If there is an accident involving major damage, those involved in the accident are obliged to call the police. This applies especially when persons are injured. But even in the event of minor damage in which the parties cannot agree on the cause of the accident and who is at fault, police support is advisable. The police will officially record the accident and in doing so secure important evidence that will help in accident reconstruction and thus assist in clarifying whose fault the accident was.
